Interval opts for Océ JetStream to produce direct mail and digital newspapers
French print service provider acquires Océ JetStream 1400 to produce national and international newspapers in Paris
Venlo, The Netherlands, 7 October 2011 – Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced that Interval, a leading French direct marketing company specializing in direct mail and Transpromo printing as well as fulfillment services, will start to produce color editions of international newspapers on the latest digital inkjet technology.
Interval, an established print service provider in France
Interval is a French print service provider with more than 25 year experience providing direct marketing and logistics services to French corporate customers and publishers. With more than 300 employees, Interval operates from two locations in the Paris region.
Interval will launch their direct marketing services and newspaper production on an Océ JetStream 1400 in November 2011. This press is the latest addition to the growing Océ family of leading-edge full-color inkjet presses. With a speed of 100 m/min the Océ JetStream 1400 produces up to 1,400 36-page tabloid newspapers per hour.
More services with Océ JetStream 1400
The Océ JetStream 1400 will be placed in Interval’s Aubervilliers print site, close to downtown Paris and Charles de Gaulles international airport. Serving the French capital with a substantial international population, the production of international newspapers will be a key target market. Due to the spread-out geography of France, the Day A production of national titles for the Paris market will be an additional service for Interval.
During its day shifts Interval will produce direct mail and Transpromo services, the night shift will be filled with newspaper production. Advances based on Océ JetStream technology inkjet presses in terms of speed and quality, plus unrivalled color quality and flexibility, means that digital newspapers have become an even more acceptable product for the newspaper industry.
High-quality inkjet for direct marketing and international newspaper production
Gerard Pouzoulet, Managing Director of Groupe Interval said: “The introduction of the Océ JetStream 1400 will be a major step in the future development of Groupe Interval. We have decided to opt for Océ because the Océ JetStream 1400 fully meets our requirements for direct marketing and newspaper production in terms of productivity, quality and cost.”
“The expansion of Groupe Interval into the digital newspaper market is another proof for the viability of digital inkjet technology for the newspaper industry. The economics complementing direct marketing services with the production of digital newspapers is a truly promising concept for the future,” adds Sebastian Landesberger, Executive Vice President, Océ Production Printing.
Strategic alliance with manroland
Océ pioneered the digital newspaper market a decade ago with its Digital Newspaper Network. Over 30 million newspaper copies have been produced globally through this network since 2001, making Océ the world market leader in digital newspaper production.
In December 2010, Océ, the world's leading manufacturer of high-performance printing systems for digital continuous feed printing, and manroland AG, one of the world’s leading suppliers of offset printing systems, have announced a strategic alliance to offer the market total digital printing solutions aimed at the graphic arts industry. With this alliance, Océ’s focus in the digital newspaper market is now widening from decentralized production of international newspapers to short-run national markets and micro-zoning workflows, combining offset and digital production.
